Privacy notice
Severn Bridge Status (severnbridgestatus.com) is an unofficial site run by an individual in the UK. It is not part of National Highways. Questions about your data go to hello@severnbridgestatus.com.
What we keep, and why
We only keep information when you ask for alerts, and only to send you the alerts you asked for.
- Email alerts: your email address, your choices (bridges, direction, times, kinds of alert), and when you signed up, confirmed and last got an alert.
- Alerts on your phone or computer: the delivery address and keys your browser gives us for its notification service (run by Google, Apple, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on your browser), your choices, and the same dates. This doesn't include your name, number or location.
We ask for your consent when you sign up, and you can withdraw it at any time: use the link in any alert email, or "Turn off alerts here" on the device.
How long we keep it
- Sign-ups that are never confirmed are deleted after 48 hours.
- When you unsubscribe, your details are deleted within 30 days.
- Records of which alerts were sent are deleted after 90 days.
Who else is involved
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database, sends the alert emails, and runs the bot check on the sign-up form (Turnstile).
- Your browser's maker delivers alerts to your device through its own notification service.
- The page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google sees your browser's IP address when you visit.
We don't sell your data or share it with anyone else, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about you by emailing hello@severnbridgestatus.com. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
